GORDON WOODS – HOLLOW WOOD TOOTHPICK LATE 40’s / EARLY 50’s (SOLD)

16’6″ Toothpick

Late 40’s early 50’s. This board has been professionally made, well-shaped.

Slight rocker, tapered nose. Tapered tail, original fittings – no surf racks available unless you wanted to make one yourself.

Most boards were stored in the surf lifesaving clubs.  Otherwise, a towel was put on the roof of a car and board tied in the middle through the window.  Then the metal fitting at the nose was tied to the bumper bar (they were steel back then) and the back-metal loop tied down to the back bumper or toe bar.

This board was made by Gordon Woods, he went on to be one of the major makers in the 50’s and 60’s

The first to go commercial with “his own shop” and shaping out the back, mainly all-around Sydney and New South Wales (NSW)

This is an excellent board for 70 years old

Very few have survived in this condition

Amazing Condition 10/10

By the way, no such thing as a leg rope or wax back then
